Tom Roy has 25+ years of experience in advertising and marketing communications. Tom is the Chief Innovations Officer at Middle East Communications Network in Dubai. MCN is part of the Interpublic Group of companies (IPG), and is holding/management group that owns and operates several advertising and media agencies in the region including Fortune Promoseven (FP7), UM, Initiative, Magna, Lowe, Weber Shandwick, Promoseven 360, MRM, Commonwealth and Momentum.

The challenge for the CIO is to harness the power of emerging media across media neutral platforms to enable the connection of brand and consumer in today’s lightning speed user-driven, consumer empowered marketing environment.

Tom also headed Corporate Communications for the entire MCN group of agencies. This role covered complete overall responsibility for marketing the group’s agency brands, building reputation, managing media relations and stakeholder communications.

Prior to moving to Dubai, Tom has worked for multinational agencies in Canada, the UK, the Middle East and India. Tom’s experience includes teaching Advertising Strategy and Permission Marketing at the University of Toronto.

His brand portfolio includes multinational accounts such as Coca Cola, Standard Chartered Bank, American Express, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Master Foods (Mars), AT&T, Le Meridien Hotels, ACDelco, Sony, PowerGen UK, BMW, Retail Council of Canada, Nestlé, BankMuscat, Sitel UK, KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, UPS and Land Rover.

In the UAE, he has worked with brands such as EmiratesNBD, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, NIVEA, RakBank, Dubai Cares (Dubai Government), Sephora, National Commercial Bank (KSA), MasterCard, Loreal, Jumbo Electronics, Dubai Duty Free, Coca Cola, Liberty Automobiles, McDonald’s etc

His current challenge is to synergize global trends and ideas into the rapidly developing world of ‘digital’ communications in the Middle Eastern market, and making them relevant to regional demands.
